Supervision of Peer Support Staff

The peer workforce is a tremendous asset to service agencies and individuals navigating their own recovery. Supervision should support the peer support staff's unique role within the agency but often supervisors struggle with effectively supporting peer support staff as they haven’t been given the tools. This session will begin to set the stage for effective supervision through a trauma informed lens, provide a review of the scope of practice of peer support including what it is and is not, the history of peer support and related research, and how supervisors can coach, mentor and support a high quality peer workforce.
