Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Chewuna Patterson, Owner of That Advocate Lady (T.A.L) a private advocacy agency with primary focus on area of advocacy are I/DD, Behavioral, and Mental Health. My agency provides Consultation, Professional Advocacy Training, Individual Care Management, Natural Support Education, Community Navigation,and Life Coaching. I currently work with several agencies providing direct advocacy and state navigation to over 100 individuals with various special needs. I serve as a Surrogate Parent in Guilford County Schools for Exceptional Children Department. I work closely with the school systems Social Worker providing linkage to the community and access to services. Providing understanding on how to navigate various services such as Medicaid, SNAP, SSI, and Community Based Services. My goal is to give the community the tools and support to navigate a complex system impacting all areas of life. I have a Bachelorof Science with a concentrationin Recreation Therapy and a minor in Human Development. I have worked in the special education field for 25 years. I currently serve as Board members to service agencies with similar passions such ARC and Corporation of Guardianship. As a professional advocate and life coach, I try to bring an abundance of energy, creativity, dedication, experience, and personal knowledge to my work and the individuals I serve.
