Supporting Tenants Who Use Substances

This course will present the fundamentals of substance use through a social, psychological, and biological lens. You will learn about evidence-based interventions like medication and harm reduction as well as strategies for helping people who use drugs navigate housing and tenancy.

  • Describe how social, biological, and psychological factors can contribute to substance use
  • Describe the disparate impacts of substance use across groups
  • Define more than one evidence-based practice for the treatment of substance use
  • Describe strategies for working through challenging tenancy situations that sometimes arise with substance use
  • List ways stigma and bias can affect program participants
