John Anderson

Applications Analyst
He/Him/His

Joined BHS: John started with the Behavioral Health Springboard program as a temp in June 2005 and fully joined the team in January 2006.
Education: John earned a Bachelor’s of English from the North Carolina State University with an emphasis in technical writing and editing.
Professional Experience: John has worked in the web development and distance learning field for 2 decades. In university, he followed TED (Technology and Education) tracks where learned HTML,CSS, photography, print and web design principles. He worked for 6 years with a Durham based start-up before joining the BHS team where he gained much experience and opportunities working alongside senior desktop and web application developers. At UNC, John has been instrumental in introducing innovative open-source application technologies, effectively enhancing solutions for distance learning, e-commerce, content management, and moderation workflows.
Motivation: What motivates me most is knowing that our work has a tangible impact on families and communities throughout the state. The training and technical assistance we provide enhance behavioral health practices, information, and services. Each small step we take contributes to a larger, transformative movement, which makes me feel connected to something significant and enduring.

BHS is also a vibrant, diverse workplace, made up of interesting and dedicated colleagues, making every day enjoyable.

Alexis S. Barnes-Scott

Child Behavioral Health Consultant
She/Her/Hers

Joined BHS: December 2020
Education: Double Pirate, Masters in Marriage Family Therapy and Bachelors in Birth through Kindergarten Education at East Carolina University. Certified Clinical Trauma Professional by the International Association of Trauma Professionals
Professional Experience: Since 2014, Alexis has been dedicated to families and youth who are Medicaid insured. She has worked in outpatient, day treatment, and in-home clinical settings. She also has experience working in managed care organizations. Her specialties include family systems, child development, trauma informed practice, and program development. Alexis strives to support families and youth in NC by strengthening the direct care workforce through evidence-based practice and collaborative efforts, to ensure that our members receive the best clinical support possible.

Hayley Bayne

NC System of Care Program Specialist

Education: MSW from the UNC-CH School of Social Work
Professional Experience: I’ve been working with children & families for 7 years in a variety of settings such as schools, childcare settings, nonprofits, and state agencies. After working one-on-one with children and families, I was introduced to the Trauma and Resilience field in 2019 and began working to advance the use of trauma-informed practices and build trauma awareness in organizations and programs across the state.
Motivation: I love working at BHS because it gives me an opportunity to pull together my lived experiences, professional experiences and educational experiences to advance the quality and cohesion of behavioral health in North Carolina. I get to work every day with amazing people across NC and help make a difference for the children of NC.

Brianna Bibbs

Education: Masters of Science in Counseling
Motivation: I am motivated by the work being done in BHS because of the reach that the BSH team has on the community efforts across the start of North Carolina. This team is dedicated to the work involved in advancing the communities we serve and that is something to desire to be a part of. The work that the MHFA program does helps prepare trainees for conversations that can be lifesaving interventions by connecting people to resources. Being able to be a part of that has been so meaningful. Additionally, being a part of the meaningful work BHS contributes to the state of North Carolina and its residents.

Motivation: What motivates me at BHS are the positive, collaborative relationships within our team and the endless support I receive from my director. I love the opportunities there are for growth and professional development. I appreciate that my ideas and suggestions are well received and are considered when making big decisions that add to the success of BHS!

Melissa L. Godwin

Professional Experience: Practicing since 1998
Motivation: Working with Behavioral Health Springboard at the School of Social Work has allowed flexible and innovative work to be delivered to the Division of Mental Health/Developmental Disabilities/Substance Use Services in support of women with substance use disorders in North Carolina.

Professional Experience: Ervin has experience in higher education, mentorship, event planning, behavioral health, and IT support.
Motivation: My motivation comes from working with likeminded individuals who strive to provide training opportunities to leaders to help others and their communities.

Krystal Graves

Education: Master of Science in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling from UNC CH, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC)
Professional Experience: I have close to 10 years of professional experience in public schools, private practice, and community mental health settings serving children and families.
Motivation: I do this work because it matters. We all deserve to feel safe, heard, and cared for. My motivation for working at BHS includes the shared passion for the work that we do in addition to an environment cultivated to promote well-being, collaboration, and healthy thinking.

Brittany Greene

Provider Training Program Specialist

Education: Dual Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling from North Carolina Central University, B.S. in Elementary Education from Winston-Salem State University, LCMHCA, LCAS, and NCC
Professional Experience: I have over 2 years of professional experience (one year post graduate) in mental/behavioral health (all things behavioral health, i.e. mood disorders, anxiety, addictions to include substance and behavioral addictions, gambling and gaming addictions, life transitions, self-esteem, grief, autism, ADHD, behavioral issues, school/academic issues for all ages). Including my graduate training and post-graduate experience.
Motivation: My motivation to work at BHS was inspired by my desire to continue to make a significant impact in the field of mental/behavioral health. I wanted to be able to expand my reach and apply my clinical skills to not only help clients who are in need of mental health services, but to help educate others in the field of behavioral health on problem gambling and gaming.

Jameceia Holliday

Education: Double alumnus of the Cameron Business School at UNC-Wilmington. Holds an MBA degree, B.S. in Business Administration with a concentration in Management and Leadership, and a A.A.S. in Accounting from Cape Fear Community College
Professional Experience: She has over 10 years of experience in project management, logistical planning and management, and proven leadership skills and abilities.
Motivation:  Jameceia is passionate about the work she is a part of at BHS due to lived experience with loved ones who live with and have struggles with mental health challenges. Helping to reduce the stigma associated with mental health in underrepresented communities and providing adequate resources to support those in need is very important. This motivates Jameceia to continue doing the work as she represents underrepresented communities such as the one she came from.

Molly Hurd

Online Training Specialist

Education: B.S. from The United States Military Academy at West Point/ B.A. from Bridgewater State College/ M.A.T. from Georgia State University
Professional Experience: In her current role as an Online Training Specialist she collaborates with subject matter experts to develop online training for professionals working in the behavioral health field. With a background in military intelligence and education, Molly brings years of instructional design and communications experience to the team.
Motivation: Molly is inspired by the great public service provided by behavioral health professionals and enjoys the challenge of developing evidence based training that meets the needs of this important workforce.

Michael McGuire

Clinical Associate Professor and the Director of the Substance Use and Addiction Specialist program

Education: Licensed as a Clinical Social Worker, Marriage and Family Therapist, Clinical Addictions Specialist, a credentialed supervisor and MINT Trainer
Professional Experience: He has thirty years of clinical experience. Michael’s areas of interest include addictive disorders, adolescent and family development, experiential learning, military-involved families, Feedback Informed Treatment, clinical supervision, ethics, and workforce development.
Motivation: His work is motivated by a desire for a better world and a roof over his head.

Alexandra Morris

Early Childhood Behavioral Health Programs Specialist

Professional Experience: 17 years of experience working in Early childhood social emotional development and mental health.
Motivation: I am pleased to work at BHS to help build the state system of behavioral and mental health services for young children in NC.

Motivation: I am passionate about providing school staff state-wide with resources, evidence-based practices, and assistance as they support, enrich, triage, and advance student mental health in their schools.

Sarah Reives-Houston

Education: Ph.D. in Education and finalizing PsyD in clinical psychology. Certified Family Trauma Specialist, Certified MHFA Instructor and Graduate Certificate in Clinical Addictions
Professional Experience:
Sarah has over 10 years of higher education administrative experience, previously serving as both a department chair and a program director. She has taught undergraduate and graduate courses in psychology, developed courses and training programs in behavioral health, and she has been awarded over $625,000 in sponsored research grants.
Motivation: Sarah’s passion for engaging in research and projects that center on recognizing, managing, and mitigating the impacts of trauma, mental health and substance use for client populations and the wellbeing of service providers reflects both her calling and commitment to the work of Behavioral Health Springboard.

Javan Emanuel Richardson

Professional Experience: An emerging leader, executive strategist, and evolving coach was raised in a family deeply committed to ministry. Javan loves academia and has held positions at Duke University, Wake Forest University, & North Carolina State University. Along with public speaking Javan is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated.
Motivation: With a burning passion for achievement, Javan’s ardent desire is to help the next generation tap into their potential and recognize unparalleled success in every area of life. His why for working at BHS is based upon the mission of BHS. This program gives individuals a step in the right direction to help someone become holistically healthy.

Professional Experience: Mental Health Professional with over 7 years of expertise in mental health consultation, program management, levels of care within mental health, school social work, inpatient behavioral health, and community mental health.
Motivation: Mental health applies to everyone no matter your culture, age, gender, or socioeconomic status. I am passionate about bringing increased mental health awareness and advocacy to communities, especially for minority and underserved populations. Teaching Mental Health First Aid to communities is a bold step in increasing mental health support for all and I am excited about moving this work forward.
