Sure Bet One: Dealing with Problem Gambling August 2021

What constitutes problem or pathological gambling? And how do professionals assist individuals whose gambling is creating problems in their home and work lives? This four-part workshop will provide in-depth knowledge about problem and pathological gambling and treatment interventions, gambling counseling theory and practice, regulations and ethical issues, and financial aspects of remuneration.
- Discuss an overview of pathological/problem gambling
- Assess the client regarding issues of pathological/problem gambling
- Identify recommended outpatient treatment methods
- Discuss financial aspects of treatment for pathological/problem gamblers
Format and Times:
The Sure Bet One training is being offered virtual via Zoom platform. The training will take place over a 2-week time span in 4 installments. Each installment will be 3 hours and 15 minutes. The extra 15 minutes will be used as a break within the training session:

Mental health professionals including psychologists, clinical social workers, licensed professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, substance abuse counselors, pastoral counselors, school counselors, clergy, school administrators, recreational therapists, peer support specialists and all those interested in learning about problem gambling.
$25 registration fee for the four-day event. Pre-registration is required, and registration fees are due on or before the program date unless your organization is paying the fee as authorized by your supervisor on the registration form. Refunds will be issued up to two weeks before the training. Fees will be donated to the NCPG Program.
Participants can request a refund up to 2 weeks in advance of training.

Any announcements regarding changes to the schedule due to inclement weather will be posted on https://bhs.unc.edu. Registered participants will also be notified by email.

Confirmation Notices and Certificates of Completion:
We will confirm your registration by email after payment is received. Successful completion includes full attendance for the entire day. Within 7 days of the conclusion of the event, you will receive an email notifying you that the evaluations and certificates are ready. The email will include a link to https://bhs.unc.edu where you can login using the username and password you chose at registration. Once you have logged in, you will see the training titles listed under "My Courses" on the left side. After clicking on the link, you will be taken to another page where you can click the link to the event evaluation. Once you have completed and submitted your evaluation, you can click on the link to access the Certificate of Completion. You will be able to print or save your Certificate as a PDF document.
