Education: Double Pirate, Masters in Marriage Family Therapy and Bachelors in Birth through Kindergarten Education at East Carolina University. Certified Clinical Trauma Professional by the International Association of Trauma Professionals
Professional Experience: Since 2014, Alexis has been dedicated to families and youth who are Medicaid insured. She has worked in outpatient, day treatment, and in-home clinical settings. She also has experience working in managed care organizations. Her specialties include family systems, child development, trauma informed practice, and program development. Alexis strives to support families and youth in NC by strengthening the direct care workforce through evidence-based practice and collaborative efforts, to ensure that our members receive the best clinical support possible.
Motivation: My motivation is to better the lives of youth and families in North Carolina. I am passionate about delivering high quality services in an effort to enhance the workforce.

Professional Experience: I have close to 10 years of professional experience in public schools, private practice, and community mental health settings serving children and families.
Motivation: I do this work because it matters. We all deserve to feel safe, heard, and cared for. My motivation for working at BHS includes the shared passion for the work that we do in addition to an environment cultivated to promote well-being, collaboration, and healthy thinking.

Professional Experience: I’ve been working with children & families for 7 years in a variety of settings such as schools, childcare settings, nonprofits, and state agencies. After working one-on-one with children and families, I was introduced to the Trauma and Resilience field in 2019 and began working to advance the use of trauma-informed practices and build trauma awareness in organizations and programs across the state.
Motivation: I love working at BHS because it gives me an opportunity to pull together my lived experiences, professional experiences and educational experiences to advance the quality and cohesion of behavioral health in North Carolina. I get to work every day with amazing people across NC and help make a difference for the children of NC.

Motivation: I am passionate about providing school staff state-wide with resources, evidence-based practices, and assistance as they support, enrich, triage, and advance student mental health in their schools.

Professional Experience: I have 17 years of experience working in early childhood social emotional development and mental health, with expertise in early childhood behavioral health policy, systems alignment, coalition-building, technical assistance, and resource development.
Motivation: I am pleased to work in my role at BHS because I am passionate about building the state system of behavioral and mental health services for children birth-5 and their families.
